Happenings around the Carson City region for New Year's Eve, Dec. 31

Heading into last day of 2019, we're looking at partly sunny skies with a high around 50 and low around 30. Activities around the capital city region are lined up through the day and evening. Enjoy and celebrate as we prepare to toast a welcome to 2020. Also do consider a designated driver, cab ride, Lyft or Uber to be on the safe side for your ride home if out celebrating. Here's what's happening Tuesday:

Driver's Education offered through Western Nevada College Continuing Education. 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily this week. Continuing Education at Western Nevada College offers 30 hours of new driver education. Meets requirements to obtain a Nevada driver's license. Uses lectures, interactive CD's, guest speakers and videos in a classroom setting to cover Nevada driving regulations, basic vehicle control, and challenging situations. Open to students ages 15 and above. PLEASE NOTE: Driver Education class fees are non-refundable. Go here to register.

Capital City Arts Initiative Presents: Saludos Amigos. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Capital City Arts Initiative presents its exhibition, "Saludos Amigos", by artist Justin Favela at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery. The exhibition will be in the gallery from now through January 29, 2020. The Courthouse is located at 885 E Musser Street, Carson City. The gallery is open Monday through Friday.

Nevada Day art exhibit at Nevada Artists Association gallery at the Brewery Arts Center. The annual Nevada Day Art Exhibit at the Nevada Artists Association Art Gallery will be held from through January 3, 2020. The NAA Gallery is located at the Brewery Art Center at 449 West King Street. The NAA gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m to 4 p.m.

Class at Brewery Arts Center to focus on large and medium format black and white film. This is a one-on-one class that is tailored to meet your experience and interests. Tell us what you want to learn and we will shape the class to meet your needs. Included will be two photo outings where you can use one of our 4x5 or medium format cameras or a camra you bring yourself. Photo sessions will be in areas your instructor recently covered on magazine assignments and will cover many topics, including: choosing the right film for the job, loading film (roll film cameras, 4x5 film holders, or roll film backs), mixing chemicals that best match your film, film developing, setting up the darkroom for printing, making test prints and the final 8x10 prints, and how to organize and store your negatives. For the lab sessions we provide the chemistry and paper. You purchase the film and develop it using our professional quality CPE-2 Jobo Rotary Processor. Tution is on $200 for four half-day sessions. This is an ongoing class, so there are no set dates. Get in touch witht he instructor to find the times that will work best for you! Pole Fitness at Yaple's Dance Studio. 5 p.m. Pole is not what you think. It's for those looking for a fresh, challenging way to be fit. You will be fit unlike anything else. We work with everyone from the serious athlete ready to compete, to the casual student that is looking for a fun new activity to stay in shape. — Parents of Addicted Loved Ones hold meetings Tuesday evenings. 6 p.m. PAL provides education and support, at no cost, for family members (over 18) trying to save a son, daughter or family member from addiction to alcohol or drugs. By attending our meetings on Tuesdays, 6 p.m. at Partnership Carson City office at 1925 N Carson City St., you will give and receive support from others who are facing the same challenges you are.

Empty Bowls, Open Studio. 6 to 8:30 p.m. Create an empty bowl to donate to charity, instruction will be offered to create and paint a bowl or create something on our own during open studio session. Open studio time at Ogres-Holm Pottery is free of charge and open to the public. 1215 South Carson Street.

Swing Dance lessons at Yaple's Ballroom. 6 p.m. Looking for a date night idea? Want a night out with the friends! Grab the family and Swing on by Yapel's Ballroom! Come to our Swing Dancing Class. It is the best! It's great physical activity, great music, an easy going style that can help you connect with a partner easily. This is also a great style if you don't have a partner. When you come to class, single guys and gals rotate so that they get a chance to try the swing moves with a partner. If you bring a partner to class, you have the choice to rotate or stick with your partner! Every Tuesday at 6 pm and cost is just $10 to drop in! New Year's Eve Festivities Around the Region

CARSON CITY

— Music and Comedy to ring in 2020 at Carson Nugget. Ring in 2020 with the Deception, delivering classic rock at it’s best from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and today at the Carson Nugget in Carson City from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Ahead of the band and rock and roll new year's party, comedian Leslie Townsend, star of Casino Boss, will perform at the The Carson Comedy Club beginning at 8 p.m. Go here for more information.

— Celebrate New Year’s at Casino Fandango with The Lost Reverends of the High Sierra. Come celebrate the new year with popular local band, The Lost Reverends of the High Sierra in the Cabaret in Casino Fandango, 3800 South Carson St., New Year’s Eve from 9:00PM until 1:00AM. There is no cover charge and Casino Fandango is well known for their award winning buffet, restaurants and atmosphere. Also new to Casino Fandango is the Craft 55 draft beer bar, a great place to sample fine draft beers, meet and just hang out. — Black and White New Year's Eve Celebration at Jimmy G's Cigar Bar, Carson City. Say goodbye to 2019 and hello to 2020 during the celebration at Jimmy G's Cigar Bar. — New Year’s Eve Celebration with Pawnshop at Living the Good Life. Beginning at 8 p.m. Living the Good Life Nightclub-Bistro-Lounge at 1480 N. Carson Street will be hosting Pawnshop for some good ol’ rock ’n’ roll to ring in the new year. The cost is $75 per person for a table for the evening, which includes a champagne toast, party favors, three course dinner of caesar salad, New York steak and lobster, scallop potatoes and fresh green beans, ending with croissant bread pudding served with ice cream.

— New Year’s Eve Country Dance Party at Eleventh Frame Lounge at Carson Lanes.

The Eleventh Frame Lounge at Carson Lanes will be hosting a New Year’s Eve Country Dance Party beginning at 6 p.m., located at 4600 Snyder Avenue.

DJ Tedi will be playing all your favorite Country/Pop Line and Partner dance tunes, all open dancing. Party favors, desserts, free champagne and/or Cider at 9 p.m. and Midnight will be provided. There is no cover, and participants must be 21 or older.

— New Year’s Eve Prix Fixe Menu at Cucina Lupo

Cucina Lupo is offering a three course dinner along with a selection of wines and champagnes and a special New Year’s Eve dessert. Live music will be provided by First Take featuring Rick Metz. The New Year’s Eve menu will be available starting at 4 p.m. and reservations are highly recommended.

— New Year’s Eve 2020 at South Lake Brewing Company. Celebrate the new decade with South Lake Brewing Company. Come dressed in 1920’s attire and ring in the New Year 20’s prohibition style and enjoy two events in one night.

At 6:30 p.m. a private drinking and dining experience at the brewery speakeasy style will be held; SLBC will be closed to the general public for a couple of hours and decked out in art deco, boa feathers, fake chandeliers and the like. Enjoy a five-course meal of beer brewed by SLBC and paired with food prepared by local Chef Glen Simpson. — New Year’s Eve 2020: The Loft Tahoe

The Loft Tahoe is located at 1001 Heavenly Village Way in South Lake Tahoe, and they are hosting a New Year’s Eve celebration including food, drink, music, decorations, party favors, live DJs, midnight countdown and more. Groove Cartel will be spinning dance music all night long. The event begins at 8:30 p.m. and will go until 2 a.m. New Year’s Day. — New Year’s Eve Party at TommyKnockers Irish Pub with live music and no cover. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with a Potluck dinner at 6:30, be sure to bring your favorite dish!
